Economic expert Manar Al-Obaidi said that data for the first nine months of this year showed continued growth rates in Iraq’s imports, with a clear pattern emerging in the concentration of imports from a limited number of countries, indicating that the United Arab Emirates, China and Turkey topped the list of countries that exported the most to Iraq during this period.
Al-Obaidi explained that the data also revealed a significant concentration in imported commodity categories, as only 9 commodity categories out of 99 internationally approved categories accounted for more than 67% of the total value of Iraqi imports.
He explained that electronic and electrical devices and equipment came first among imported goods, followed by precious metals, especially gold, then cars and their equipment, and finally mechanical devices, especially refrigeration equipment.
