The federal government supports Kurdistan farmers: 24 billion dinars to pay wheat dues

The Minister of Trade and Industry in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced that the federal government has sent another payment of 24 billion dinars to the region’s farmers for their wheat crop.
Minister of Trade Kamal Muslim said in a press statement: “The amount has been sent and its distribution will begin after the completion of banking and administrative procedures.”
The process of receiving wheat from farmers in the Kurdistan Region by the silos began on June 10 and continued until July 20, during which the Iraqi government received about 6 million tons of wheat produced this year, while the Kurdistan Region’s share was set at about 400,000 tons, while last year it received 700,000 tons, at a price of 850,000 dinars per ton.
Out of a total of 340 billion dinars, which is the region’s dues to the farmers, Baghdad has so far sent only about 97 billion dinars, in three installments, of which the first and second installments have been distributed.
